All About Your Platinum Gracelet
👟WHAT TO DO: Watch the following video to learn about how the “Gracelet” came to be and then read and/or listen to the lesson below.
The Gracelet is a welcome gift sent to women who purchase the FULL Platinum course. This is a custom, one-of-a-kind bracelet by BraveWorks (formerly Fashion & Compassion). (this is an awesome organization, so definitely check it out).
If you purchased Platinum DIGITIAL and did not receive a Gracelet, don’t sweat it– any stretchy bracelet or even hair scrunchie will do!
Have you ever woken up with the grandest expectations for the day, only to lay your head on the pillow painfully aware that you forgot to remember all that you wanted to do?
What happened?
How could such a genuine desire slip away without being noticed?
I’ve heard a woman’s brain described as an internet browser with a dozen tabs open. Each one loaded with information waiting to be acted upon. But with so many tabs running, each individual one is lost in a sea of the others.
You forget because “eating healthy” is just one of a laundry list of things on your to-do list. And, no matter how important taking care of your body and reaching your goals is to you, you’re often so busy putting out fires that those sunrise expectations get pushed further and further back into your brain.
Wouldn’t it be great if there was a tangible way to remind yourself to practice your priorities, while also affirming the choice and making it more of a habit?
Meet the “Gracelet”
The Gracelet is an incredible (and beautiful) tool to help you “remember to remember” the habit change we are focusing on in each Landmark.
To help you see the potential, our Community Manager Ginger shares how a simple purple bracelet changed her heart.
How God used this bracelet to change my complaining heart:
Most of my life I was a complainer. It wasn’t pretty. I’d complain about, pretty much, anything. Then God started really working on my heart about it and I desired to change. But I just couldn’t seem to remember not to complain.
Then one day, I ran across a blog post where a lady had the same problem until she started wearing a bracelet. It was a stretchy bracelet, one that was easy to take on and off. Each time she found herself complaining, or her family pointed out to her that she was, she would move the bracelet to her other wrist! What a brilliant idea! I decided to give it a try.
Wow! I didn’t realize how much I truly complained until I did this and saw it was worse than I even thought. This easy little experiment and God changed my heart, for over 10 years now. Praise His Name!
Fast forward about 10 years to about two weeks ago. I have been struggling to remember to focus on God and seek Him throughout my day.
I start off strong with Him in the mornings, but as the busyness of the day takes hold, I go on my own. This isn’t how God or I want it to be.
So, God put another blog post in front of me. It was by a lady who does the same thing with a stretchy bracelet to help her remember to call on God throughout her day. When she is losing her patience, or whatever she is needing help with, she takes off her bracelet, calls out to God, and then moves her bracelet to her other wrist.
A light bulb went off and I thought, “I should do this!” And then I thought , “I don’t want to wear a bracelet to help me remember to call upon God. I should just be able to remember. He doesn’t forget about me in His busyness…but I think He’d rather me do that than not call on Him at all.”
So I pulled my purple bracelet back out and put it on. This simple little bracelet and practice have helped me remember to seek God throughout my day, and I’m not needing it as a reminder as much today as I did two weeks ago.
However, I will probably continue wearing it as a reminder that God is faithful when we seek Him.
After hearing this story from Ginger, I started using a bracelet (now coined a “Gracelet”) too. And, I was blown away by how very helpful this tool was!
The simple act of changing hands does two important things:
1. Moving the Gracelet from hand to hand moves your brain. You were thinking about xyz and now you’re thinking about abc. The physical act of taking the Gracelet off redirects your mind and gives you a pause to put on that God-gifted renewed mind of yours.
2. The act of moving the Gracelet is like a mini-celebration. A sort-of, self-delivered high five. Which, if you think about it, is super-cool…you never have to wait to call your best friend to celebrate or freak the woman behind you in the checkout lane by asking for a fist bump.
The simplest of acts often yields the biggest results.
As you go through Platinum, you’ll have an opportunity to use your Gracelet in a variety of ways that I think will excite and surprise you!
