Finding Freedom from Sugar Addiction

Sugar addiction is a term we hear a lot these days. And for good reason. Sugar is everywhere and in everything. It tastes amazing, and once that first bite touches your lips, it’s hard to stop. In fact, if can feel so impossible that some people compare the sugar habit to drugs!

Recently, one of our Platinum members asked a question about sugar addiction, and it’s one people ask often.

“How can I break a sugar addiction, while still walking in food freedom?”

The struggle is familiar to many women. As you begin to learn the principles of food freedom, you realize that food is just food. There’s no good food or bad food, including sugar. And you are allowed to eat anything.

However, this truth doesn’t change the fact that it’s hard to say “no” to sugar. Since you’ve restricted sugar for so long (years for many of you!), you find that you can’t have one bite and stop.

For some of us it’s cookies, for others it’s cakes or candy. In fact, you can love sugar so much that you struggle with binging “healthier” foods like raisins or dates.

As we talk about often in Platinum, restricting foods is almost never the answer. This is especially true of restricting sugar long-term. Not very many people can cut it out forever–and you don’t have to!

In this episode, we’re talking about sugar addiction: what it is, and how you can overcome it for good without sacrificing your favorite treats forever.

I’ll explain what sugar addiction is and why it’s so hard to say no. I’ll also give you some practical tips to help you learn how to break the cycle of sugar and walk in true free freedom–without unhelpful restrictions or impossible food rules.

In “Finding Freedom from Sugar Addiction” we discuss:

  • Finding balance between food freedom and making bad choices
  • Understanding what sugar is and what it does to your brain
