Overcoming overeating… I don’t have to convince you that, for someone struggling to moderate their food choices, this is no easy task. However, there is great hope when you have the right perspective and tools for your journey!
Torn between the comfort of food and the desperation to stop overeating, you yield to the call for immediate relief. It is only when the aftermath of negativity rushes in that you are immersed in remorse. “Will this ever stop?” you wonder. Your head hangs low as you silently answer “probably not”.
When you are stuck in a pattern of eating too much, wondering if overcoming overeating is possible, it is difficult to see a way out. Yes, you believe that there are no hopeless cases, but then you wonder if you are the exception.
If you are looking how to overcome overeating, I want to extend a warm welcome to you. I know what it feels like to be bound and baffled by your behavior at the same time. I have experienced those despairing moments of putting your head on the pillow with regrets, again.
And, I have great news…
I believe that you can overcome overeating by immersing yourself in God’s Grace.
There is HOPE. No matter how long you have struggled and how stuck you feel, today is a new day. While I won’t sugarcoat it and tell you it’s an easy road, I will tell you that it is worth it.
To begin on your road to food freedom, I have compiled several resources for you. For your convenience, I have ordered them so that you can complete them at your leisure. Yes, please take your time.
Overeating didn’t birth itself overnight. Moving on to the full calling that God has on your life will require your time and attention. But, soon enough, you will have created new habits and new ways of thinking.
4 Steps to Overcoming Overeating
Overcome Overeating Step #1: Determine Your Why
Why do you overeat? I am sure there are several reasons that come to mind. But, have you taken the time to really think about it?
Are you undernourished, mentally drained, or spiritually dry? In order to create an effective solution, you need to know what you are trying to solve.
For example, if you are overeating because you cannot manage your emotions, taking a bubble bath is not going to help. However, if you are eating as a way of relaxation, then a bath may be the perfect fit for you.
What To Do:
Read 10 Reasons Why You Can’t Stop Overeating and list the top 3 reasons you think you overeat. If there are more, don’t sweat it. Addressing the most common challenges can sort out some of the smaller ones.
Overcome Overeating Step #2: Determine Your Next Steps
Now that your “why” is becoming more clear, it is time to strategize your way out (this is where it gets exciting!). To do this, you’ll need to be a gentle, observational viewer.
Don’t get caught up in “judgy brain.” Rather, notice your patterns so that you can look for helpful solutions.
What To Do:
Download the Free Beat Overeating Checklist and print it out. This workbook will walk you through the 10 reasons discussed above and tell you what to do next.
As you review the document, choose ONE area to work on this week. Please don’t overload yourself or give yourself a massive to-do list– that would be turning this venture into just another diet. And, we all know how that turns out.
Rather, think about small changes that get to the heart of the matter. That is what will make this time different.

I have a mission for God, but lately I’ve been so tired and I feel like a failure..because I can’t seem to move..I get so exhausted..I’m tired of people calling me fat..like I was still in my twenty..I’m 60 years old..have 3 kids.. so I need help.. I’ve been called to preach the word..it’s like I’m not doing what he’s called me too do..I’m stuck

Hi Billie, I’m so glad you’re here! Knowing that God has a mission for you is the best fuel for change, ever! The downside is that it can feel like a lot of pressure to change NOW. But, God is gentle and leads us one step at a time. Maybe pray about what He’d like you to focus on changing this week. Try to keep it small and doable and rely on Him for help, giving glory to Him as you’re successful. This is the model for change. I’m praying for you now, Billie, that the Lord will give you peace and strength.
