How to Stop Snacking in the Middle of the Night

Sometimes it’s easy to say “no” to overeating. You can turn down a morning muffin in the breakroom at work. You can skip dessert at lunchtime. Or you can put the uneaten cupcake from your child’s lunchbox back in the pantry instead of scarfing it down over the sink.

But something happens to you in the late night hours.

Suddenly, your willpower is gone. All of the progress you made during the day has vanished like fudge cake at a chocoholics convention.

Without thought or resistance, you find yourself in the pantry, wandering from the fridge to the cabinets, digging for something—anything!—to feed your insatiable cravings.Because you’re starving.

Then the all-or-nothing reasoning kicks in.

If you have a snack now, you can start over fresh in the morning. You ate a salad for lunch, and plenty of veggies for dinner so a bag of chips won’t hurt, right? But the moment you swallow the last bite, the guilt and regret hit.
