If you want to talk about a sudden shift in medical science and diet opinions, just look at the recent keto diet craze.
Back in the 90s (yes, I’m dating myself a little) we were all about low-fat.
At the height of my dieting days, I survived on processed foods like Snackwell cakes and raisins because of that little label that said “fat-free” on the front of the package. All the while, my hormones were suffering because, as it turns out, your body does need a little fat to survive.
A few years ago the keto diet burst onto the scene with its low-carb, high-fat approach to weight loss. Thousands of people jumped on board, and many of them have achieved significant weight loss and experienced some health benefits.
But, like the other diets we’ve already discussed, the keto diet still begs the question: Is there a Christian keto diet?
At first, it might seem as if the keto diet does indeed honor God. After all, carbs and sugar are “bad” foods, right? So any diet that discourages eating them must be a Christian diet.
But let’s take a closer look at the keto diet in a Christian context. Is it really any different from the other obsessive diets you’ve tried before?
Today, we’re taking a deep dive into the truth of the keto diet from a Christian perspective.
We’ll explore what it means to label foods as “good” and “bad.” What does it mean for your body and health to totally remove one entire group of foods from your diet? And is a diet that consists of more bacon than fresh fruit sustainable for the long-term?
Once we’ve answered these questions, you’ll be able to determine if a keto diet lifestyle is God’s way of eating and if it’s really the right choice for you.
